Tata Motors hosts the grand launch event for its flagship electric SUV, whose reservation portal is expected to go live today at 2 pm, June 3, 2025. As reported earlier, this is TATA’s sixth electric vehicle, following the Harrier EV, Tiago EV, Tigor EV, Punch EV, Nexon EV, and the recently announced Curvv EV.

Showcase in Front of Industry Players

The EV Harrier had gained significant attention even before its launch, thanks to the numerous teaser videos and showcases at major auto expos, where people witnessed the vehicle being put through rigorous off-roading challenges. The Harrier EV is enhanced with modern features and an improved design geared towards structural urban augmentation with a focus on urban development centred around new off-roading and adventure support features.

Design And Features

In comparison to the internal combustion engine version, Tata Motors has not shied away from giving the Harrier EV a bold stance. However, they did give the SUV some additional features specific to the EV design, such as the trademark split LED headlamps and the sequential indicators, which are enclosed within the cut-out front grille that is colored to match the body of the SUV. The vehicle also features new alloy wheels that have been aerodynamically refined, along with new, smoother rear and front bumpers and new license plates. Apart from these, the EV also gets a charging port located on the right side of the vehicle, which is accompanied by a change in branding from the diesel version.

The Harrier EV features dual-tone dashboards in addition to all-black stealth editions, which are also available in the EV. The cabin itself is impressive, featuring units such as a 10.25-inch digital display for instruments and a 12.3-inch Harman infotainment centrepiece, accompanied by a premium JBL sound system, wireless Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay, as well as dual-zone climate control. There is also a panoramic sunroof that can be adjusted via voice control. The Harrier EV’s best feature, however, is its state-of-the-art technology for connected cars. It provides V2L and V2V charging, allowing external devices to draw power from the vehicle and enabling other EVs to be charged.

Performance and Off-Road Capabilities

With the introduction of the Harrier EV, Tata has launched its all-wheel drive dual-motor system and a new multi-link rear suspension, making it their most advanced electric SUV. The vehicle’s off-road prowess was showcased in a dramatic climb up the 3,937-foot-high Elephant Rock in Kerala using boost mode, rock crawl mode, and a transparent 360-degree camera view. The claimed range exceeds 500 km on a single charge, making the Harrier EV versatile for both urban commuting and long-distance driving.

Safety and Technology

Ranging up to seven airbags, a 360-degree camera, electronic stability control (ESC), tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and ADAS, the vehicle also features level 2+ advanced driver assistance systems. The model also features remote auto-parking as ‘Summon Mode,’ which enhances convenience for other urban users.

Pricing and Market Position

The ex-showroom price for the Tata Harrier EV is set in the range of ₹24 lakh to ₹30 lakh, which positions it toward the upper side of the electric SUV market. The Harrier EV is estimated to compete with other premium electric SUVs from different brands, and its range is expected to rival that of the upcoming Mahindra BE 6, thanks to its advanced technology and off-road capabilities.

Conclusion

Tata Motors has once again proven its dominance in India’s electric vehicle market with the unruly Harrier EV. It showcased the features of the SUV and its robust capabilities, carving a new benchmark for native electric SUVs. The Harrier EV is up for bookings, and initial deliveries are expected to begin in a short time.
