TATA Harrier Petrol (Upcoming) vs. TATA Harrier Electric (2025) Comparison

Tata Motors is getting ready to shake up the SUV market with two versions of its popular Harrier – one with a petrol engine and the other fully electric. Let’s take a closer look at what each model offers and how they compare.

Harrier Petrol: The Upcoming Option

The petrol version of the Harrier is expected to arrive by March 2026. It’s designed for people who prefer a regular petrol engine. It will be equipped with a new 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces approximately 170 PS of power. You’ll be able to choose between a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission, and it’ll feature front-wheel drive.

The Harrier Petrol is expected to give a mileage of 13 to 16 km per litre, making it suitable for both city and highway use. It will be built on the same platform as the diesel Harrier and will offer features like:

  • Panoramic sunroof
  • 12.3-inch touchscreen
  • ADAS (advanced safety features)
  • Ventilated seats
  • 360° camera

Expected price: Starts around ₹16 lakh (ex-showroom), which makes it a solid option in the midsize SUV market.

Harrier EV: The Electric Game-Changer

Launched in early 2025, the Harrier EV is Tata’s step into the future of electric cars. Built on a special electric platform, it offers two versions: rear-wheel drive (RWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD). The AWD version boasts up to 313 hp and 504 Nm of torque, delivering strong performance.

It also has an impressive driving range of 622–627 km on a full charge (as per MIDC/ARAI tests). Charging options include:

  • 7.2kW AC charger – full charge in about 10.7 hours
  • 120kW DC fast charger – 20% to 80% charge in just 25 minutes

Tech features include:

  • Samsung QLED touchscreen
  • 540° camera
  • Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) and Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) charging
  • Summon mode and e-valet function

Price range: ₹21.49 lakh to ₹27.05 lakh (ex-showroom)

Conclusion

  • Harrier Petrol: Great for buyers who prefer traditional engines, quick refuelling, and a lower starting price.
  • Harrier EV: Perfect for those ready to switch to electric, with advanced tech, long-range, and zero emissions.

With both options, Tata Motors is giving buyers the freedom to choose what fits their needs best, whether it’s sticking with petrol or going electric.
