Mercedes-Benz will be launching a new-generation Mercedes-AMG GT 63 and the more track-oriented GT 63 Pro on June 26, 2025. This will bring back the legendary GT nameplate to Indian shores. Noteworthy is that, following the discontinuation of the first-gen model in 2020, the AMG GT series has been absent from India for five years.
Flagship Performance and Engineering
The GT 63 and GT 63 Pro both boast a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine, 9-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, and Mercedes’ 4Matic+ all-wheel-drive drivetrain. While the GT 63 is rated at 585 hp (577PS) and 800Nm of torque, the GT 63 Pro offers even greater track capabilities with 612 hp (604PS) and 850Nm. Both models reach 0 to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds, while the Pro variant achieves 0 to 200 km/h in 10.9 seconds and a staggering top speed of 317 km/h.
Combine Luxury With Everyday Usability
The enhanced version of the AMG GT is now more practical than its predecessor, incorporating a 2+2 seating layout. The car is now 182 mm longer, 45 mm wider, and 66 mm taller than the previous generation, resulting in increased cabin space as well as more boot space. Inside, the cars are fitted with a 12.3-inch digital instrument console, an 11.9-inch touchscreen with a portrait orientation, AMG sports seats, and a three-spoke AMG steering wheel, just like the India-spec Mercedes-AMG SL 55.
Distinct Features And Design
While the exteriors still retain elements from the first generation, such as the front bumper and headlights, the car now features quad exhaust tips and new lighting elements. The GT 63 Pro, on the other hand, is tuned for faster track performance and features an improved chassis, enhanced aerodynamics, and improved cooling systems.
Market Position And Pricing
The starting price for these two vehicles is expected to be around ₹3 crore for the Mercedes AMG GT 63. With the addition of performance features, the price of the GT 63 Pro is expected to be higher. These high-performance vehicles will serve as the new flagship models for Mercedes Benz in India. This is all part of the company’s goal to introduce eight new models to the country this year.
Conclusion
With the introduction of the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 and GT 63 Pro models, Indian performance car enthusiasts get yet another reason to celebrate. The powerhouse now offers the GT series with even more power, practicality, and advanced features.
