Yamaha is fully loaded to roll out the much-awaited midweight sports motorcycle, the YZF-R7, sometime in India this June. According to forecasts, the YZF-R7, showcased at the 2025 Auto Expo, is expected to be available by June 22, 2025, and its ex-showroom price is expected to be ₹10–10.1 lakh.

A 689 cc CP2 engine will power the Yamaha YZF-R7 sport motorcycle

A 689 cc CP2 liquid-cooled, parallel twin engine and a 6-speed manual transmission will power the Yamaha YZF-R7 sport motorcycle. The motorcycle powers to its peak at a power figure of 73.4 PS at 8,750 rpm and a torque capacity of 67 Nm at 6,500 rpm. The car promises Humber sporty and responsive performance, making the R7 apt for everyday road use and a delight for spirited track riding.

Sporty Design of the R7 and Advanced Functionalities

The R7 continues the R series’ precision craftsmanship, and for Yamaha, it is a mark of dedication to the engineering art exhibited in bike building. With inspiration from the legendary YZF R6 and R1, it features a new supersport fully faired look, along with aggressive, sharp lines and a twin-spar aluminium frame that dramatically increases the rigidity, handling, and suspension of the motorcycle. The motorbike’s advanced features include a 5-inch TFT instrument cluster, along with smartphone integration for calls and navigation.

The front wheels are fitted with a fully adjustable KYB 41 mm inverted fork, and the rear is equipped with a linkage mono-shock, offering preload, rebound, and damping settings for both the front and rear. Braking is handled by twin 298 mm front discs and a single 245 mm disc at the rear, finished off with switchable dual-channel ABS for enhanced safety. A pair of 17-inch alloy rims widens the grip on tubeless tires when riding the R7.

Rivals

The motorcycle will be brought down to the country using CBU (Completely Built-Up) routes, making it a premium product in its category. It will go head-to-head against middleweight sportbike competitors, which include the Honda CBR 650R, Triumph’s Street Triple 660, and Kawasaki Ninja 650.

What to anticipate

The blend of aggressive styling marks the advanced features of the flagship, designed for performance, and its proven CP2 engine. Sports bike enthusiasts, along with diehard customers of Yamaha, would be drawn towards the R7. The launch is set to stir deep levels of excitement across the Indian two-wheeler market, special attention from riders seeking a performance beast with the capability and adaptability for both track and day-to-day usability.

Indian roads will see the Yamaha YZF-R7 starting in June. While waiting, these sets of eyes will have official reviews, and reviews will follow the launch.
